Plans for new £6m treatment and recovery centre for Alternative Futures Group

Alternative Futures Group, the health and social care charity who supporting around 1,200 people across Merseyside, Cheshire, Manchester and Lancashire, have unveiled plans for a new £6m treatment and recovery centre in Manchester.

The centre will be built on a 1.5 acre site in Ardwick and will be run by Alternative Futures Group (AFG).

For the last 13 years, AFG has successfully operated a treatment and recovery centre in South Manchester. This new 24 bed facility in Ardwick aims to be a fast track rehabilitation service for people with complex needs.

The new facility which will open in Autumn 2016 and will create 45 new jobs in the area and has been welcomed by Manchester City Council. The development was marked by a Ground Breaking ceremony at the site, attended by local Manchester City Councillors and Mental Health Commissioning leads.

Councillor Bernard Priest, Deputy Leader for Manchester City Council, said:

“This new state of the art facility combined with AFG’s clinical expertise, will help address demand for mental health support in the region.

“It will deliver high quality care for people with complex needs allowing them to be rehabilitated back into the community.”
