Southport advanced manufacturer Isotech is reporting a surge in profits and says it will invest in additional premises and new innovation.
Isotech employs more than 50 people. It is an advanced manufacturer of temperature calibration systems. In simple terms its products can monitor temperatures to an extremely high degree of accuracy.
This level of temperature measurement is critical in scientific laboratories and in other business sectors. Around 80% of its products are exported overseas to more than 125 countries. Customers include US space agency NASA and electronics giant Panasonic.
Isotech equipment is also being employed in climate and oceanographic research.
Climate research and oceanography require temperature measurements of extraordinary precision.
In its annual accounts for the 12 months to March 31, 2025, Isotech revealed a 10% rise in revenues to £7.3m. For the second year in a row the business saw a surge in pre-tax profits, rising 65% to £1.53m.
Majority shareholder Fay Tavener and other directors shared dividends of £300,000 – identical to last year’s payout. In the annual report, Fay writes: “We continue to invest substantially in research and development.
“In response to component obsolescence, we have adopted a proactive policy of innovating and developing new control systems and instrumentation to complement our existing product range.
“This commitment to innovation Isotech as a leader in our field for years to come.”

Isotech was founded in Southport by John Tavener in 1980. He set about to design and build his own products from his small, purpose-built laboratory. Mr Tavener died in 2020.
Exporting to more than 125 countries, Isotech carries out all its own manufacturing as well as research and development in on-site laboratories in Southport.
