A new Merseyside business network for firms with Irish connections or staff has “take off like a rocket” its founders say.

Experienced local entrepreneurs Agnes Fitzgerald and Richard Dickinson launched Irish Business Enterprise (IBE) at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel.

Its aim is to bring together firms and entrepreneurs who, one way or another, feel they have an affinity or connection to Ireland.

As well as helping members prosper within the North West, the organisation will also look to build connections with firms in Ireland, north and south, and also tap into the Irish diaspora in North America and Australia.

Dozens of people attended the launch at the docklands hotel with guest speaker Cllr James Noakes, the Mayoral Lead for Energy & Smart City on Liverpool City Council.

The son of a Leitrim woman, Cllr Noakes highlighted the city’s strong links with Ireland and its desire to work more closely with Dublin and Belfast.

Ms Fitzgerald said: “I’m thrilled to say IBE has taken off like a rocket. I’ve already got a list of follow-ups.

“Many are taking advantage of our 50% discount offer which will end soon now that the launch is over. Onwards and upwards connecting Irish businesses to business opportunities.”

Prior to the launch, Ms Fitzgerald had said: “As an Irish business person, naturally the affairs of the Irish business community have always been close to my heart.”
