Liverpool Loves reveals health & wellbeing programme for 2016

This year, the Liverpool Loves Festival Day on Saturday, 6th August has a real focus on interesting ways to achieve better health and wellbeing, for all the family.

Inspired by the Healing Fields at Glastonbury, this jam-packed programme will be spreading positive vibes to put a smile on the face of festival goers at the Pier Head, with a wide range of activities promising to put a skip in your step down on the waterfront!

Rave your way into the day with Morning Gloryville who will offer inspirational, energising music and mesmerising visual entertainment, as well as free massage, yoga, organic coffee, smoothies and more from 8am to 12noon at the CultureBox Stage.

Morning Gloryville will present special DJ guests Jed Clark b2b Les Calvert from Carry on Misbehavin’ at Garlands as well as Marc Jones, from Erics to Evol – plus Medication DJs. This year’s theme is Punks for Peace so bring your family and have fun wearing your most outrageous costumes! This event is not to be missed and all the family are welcome. Then, enjoy some well-deserved R’n’R with an Earthchant Gong Bath & Gongalooza from 12.30pm to 1.30pm at the CultureBox Stage. A gong bath is a deeply relaxing experience where you are bathed in the healing and transformational vibrations of giant gongs. These are played therapeutically and for meditation, an experience you don’t want to miss!

Free those tense muscles with some Tai Chi in The Big Luv Tent. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. The Liverpool-based Kam Lau School will be offering taster sessions to ease you into the day from 12noon to 12.45pm.

Knowsley social enterprise Big Luv Sista will be at The Big Luv Tent from 2.15pm to 5.45pm – with immersive sessions like The Big Love Brother Circle, The Love Sista Choir, The Big Love Art Workshop and The Big Love Sista Circle being held throughout the day.

Relax and re-energise with Liverpool Yoga Centre on the Culturebox Terrace. Improve your flexibility, posture and find your inner peace.

Paint messages of love on the Love Art UK Wall in the The Big Love Tent where you can also enjoy a range of treatments and therapies from health and wellbeing practitioners. Indulge yourself in a traditional Indian head massage, reiki, mini treatments, essential oils and a variety of other holistic treatments.

Discover the hilarious, age old Indian tradition of laughing yoga. Jordan’s Laughing Yoga is a brilliant session that will really get your endorphins up like never before!

Lastly, don’t miss the spectacular HeartBeat Drumming Finale at The Rider Stage when up to 200 people can join the session to drum down the sun at sunset – beginners welcome!

The Liverpool Loves Festival Day is the climax of the three-day long, award-winning event, organised by Orb CIC – a Liverpool-based social enterprise with a strong proven track record in staging major city events and festivals.

Dubbed ‘The People’s Festival’, the free event it set to become bigger and better after scooping the prestigious accolade to be named as Small Tourism Event of the Year at last month’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2016.

It attracted more than 27,000 visitors across the weekend in 2015 to celebrate everything that is fantastic about the City Region – with the spotlight falling on the four key themes of Business, Culture, Food and Wellbeing.

Festival Director Josh Boyd from Orb CIC explained:

“As a social value-led festival we believe that it’s really important to showcase all of the amazing options that people have to improve their health and wellbeing in this city, through fun and exciting activities.

“It’s a mind, body and soul enriching line-up with some great organisations and practitioners; and all sessions during the afternoon are free to take part in.

“Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or complete beginner, there’s something that you can get involved in that should be a completely new experience – and give your day out an extra festival feel!”
